Students Stage Protest

He pointed to the renovation of the Langston Hughes Memorial Library as a project that has been stalled because of a delay in state funding.

"It's not because we don't care, it just takes a long time," he said. "We have a tendency of focusing on the bad, let's talk about some of the good."

Others were a bit more critical of the protesters, adding that the staged protests won't likely result in substantial change across campus.

"The energy they are putting into protesting should be put into books and let administration do their job," said one public safety officer.

Police Chief Larry Woods attended last week's protest.

"I'm here to do what I'm supposed to do as a Public Safety Officer. I'm here to make sure order is kept," he said.

Woods said that students have the right to protest, but added that there is no easy solution to their concerns.

"Due to money there is no quick fix. If this were a serious concern, all 1700 students would be here. So are these issues real?"

All problems have solution and the best is TO TALK no violence allowed guys!!! everybody makes mistakes and can have second chances..services @ LU deserve a 2nd opportunity to be better and all together build a better enviroment. (Continued…)

LU student's poor attendance at the protest in no ways means there are not serious issues at Lincoln. The FACT is Lincoln Students do not believe THEY can make the change, and some honestly do not care, because they are just dealing and grinding to just get beyond LU. (Continued…)

Most students did not turn out for the scheduled protest and some have privately expressed concerns about Sherwood's tactics.
