Hundreds of Lincoln University students have been scrambling to pre-register for Spring courses. Pre-registration has come yet again, and with it came a series of headaches and frustrations.
Seniors kicked off the registration process and was followed by juniors. Sophomores and Freshmen are expected to register this upcoming week.
"Since my freshman year, I've always had problems scheduling my classes," says April Waterford, a junior. "My advisor is nowhere to be found or there is some issue with financial aid, [but] this year I haven't had any issues though.
The Registrar's office has undergone a number of changes, but Dr. Reneford Brevett, who is serving as interim director, implemented the WebAdvisor system for students which allows them to access their student records online.
Brevett was unavailable for comment, but Fatima DeMaria, a secretary in the Registrar's office says that the pre-registration process has gone smoothly so far.
"I haven't been here for previous registrations, but so far so good," she says. "The students haven't had any issues with us. The issues have mainly been financial issues."
Some students were unable to pre-register because of financial blocks and the bursar's office was busy trying to accommodate students and their questions.
Some classes are already filled, and some departments anticipate adding additional sections to accommodate students.
Shanisse Conway, a senior, has been through the pre-registration process many times before. Since she is scheduled to graduate in May, she recently picked the last set of classes that she will take as a student at Lincoln.
"My advice for the up and coming classes is to just stay ahead and be prepared for the worse," she said.

I am enthused to read that the registration process is moving smoothly considering a new interim registrar and the change in the advising structure in recent semesters. (Continued…)
